Early Childhood Education Exchange to Sweden
Victoria University and Karlstad University have been working in partnership to develop an Exchange opportunity for students undertaking the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (EBEC) and Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Leadership (EBCL).
The program
Early Childhood students at VU have the opportunity to spend the first semester of their third year as an Exchange student at Karlstad University, Sweden.
An Exchange program allows you to study at a VU Partner (Karlstad) while remaining enrolled at VU. The Exchange program allows you to remain on track in your degree while gaining an amazing experience overseas.
Students will complete units at Karlstad and be credited for the following VU units:
- ECE3006 - Thinking with Young Children: Science, Maths and Technology
- ECE3002 - Advocacy in Leadership and Management in Early Childhood Education
- ECE3005 - Equity, Social Justice and Diversity in Early Childhood Education
- ECE3004 - Critical and Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood Education
*Exact units will be confirmed with the course chair prior to your departure.
About Karlstad
As one of the youngest universities in Sweden, Karlstad aims to be more adventurous in challenging the established and exploring the unknown.
Karlstad University also teaches using a block model of study, similar to VU.
The sun is the symbol of the University. The sun provides light and represents life, warmth and energy. The town of Karlstad is reported to have the most sunshine in Sweden. It is associated with enlightenment and growth, just like Karlstad University.
Karlstad, the county town of Värmland, is situated in a delta on the northern shore of Lake Vänern where the river Klarälven branches into many arms before flowing into Lake Vänern.
The city has just over 80,000 inhabitants and lies at the heart of Scandinavia with Gothenburg, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo within easy reach. It offers the pleasures of a small town and yet has the facilities of a city.
