You can apply for credit for any relevant units you have completed in your current or previous course(s). A VET (TAFE) diploma may get you entry into the second year of a bachelor degree.
To apply to have the credit from your current institution transferred to VU, you will need to supply:
academic transcript(s)
unit descriptions.
Any documents in another language will need to be translated and certified.

Course applications are made directly to VU, or via VTAC. You'll find step-by-step instructions by clicking the relevant 'how to apply' button above.
Credit applications
If you’re applying directly to VU, you can apply for credit during the course-application process.
If you’re applying via VTAC, wait until after your application is accepted and apply for credit to VU during enrolment.
Credit is automatically applied for any units that you have completed at Victoria University.
: We'll let you know by email if your application is successful. If it is, click on the link in the email to accept your offer and start enrolling.
If you have already applied for credit, you’ll receive your credit-application outcome in your offer letter, and a complete credit outcome notification via email. Otherwise, you can still apply for credit after enrolling.
You'll need to withdraw from your old course before the relevant census date, if you haven't already.

Defer your study

Have you been offered a place, but you're not ready to study?

If you haven't enrolled yet, you may be able to delay your start date for up to 12 months.

: Domestic students in undergraduate or postgraduate courses can defer studying for work, travel or personal reasons, as long as they do this before enrolling.
Eligible:
higher-education diplomas and bachelor degrees or
postgraduate certificates, diplomas and masters by coursework and
applied but not enrolled.
Not eligible: TAFE students.

: You can apply for a deferral when accepting your offer to study.
Follow the link provided in your acceptance email, and you will be taken to our 'MyVU' system where you will be offered the option to either accept the offer or defer for a period of 6 or 12 months.
We will send you a confirmation email once your deferral is approved. When the deferment period is nearing its end, we will contact you to assist with enrolment.
You need to defer before enrolling – do not enrol. If you have already enrolled, you'll need to apply for an intermission (leave of absence) before census date.
: Local (domestic) students who are starting a higher education course may defer for a maximum of 12 months.
This is a guaranteed deferment to return to the University.
If the course you applied to study isn't available when you want to return – for example, if there is no a mid-year intake, or the course is no longer offered – we will help you to find an alternative course or different start date.
