Choosing VU – a "no-brainer"

The decision to study in Melbourne – and at Victoria University (VU) – was a self-professed "no-brainer" for international student Avery Loganathan.

With a passion for sports and an undergraduate degree in international business from her home country of Malaysia, Avery chose VU for its reputation as a leading sports university in Australia’s sporting capital.

"I decided I wanted to live in Melbourne because it’s one of the best sports cities in the world, and whenever I searched the internet for sports universities in Melbourne, VU kept coming up," Avery says.

"For me, it was a no-brainer," she says.

Avery, who is studying VU’s Master of Sport Business and Integrity, says the best feature of the course is its diversity of students and staff.

"I’ve met so many people from different walks of life – a lot of them work in the sports industry. There are also a lot of women in my course, which you wouldn’t see in Malaysia."

The people they bring in to teach us are leaders in the field and the knowledge they give us is second to none. I don’t think I’d have that opportunity anywhere else in the world, to be honest.

When she finishes her course, Avery hopes to forge a management career in the basketball or soccer industry: "I’m up for any challenge."
