How Benjamin found a career in education

Benjamin Foster, credits Victoria University’s inclusive atmosphere, industry connections and practical learning opportunities for taking him to his dream job.
"As a mature aged student who hadn’t studied for nearly 10 years, it was difficult to get back into mainstream education. Victoria University was willing to give me a chance – they saw something in me that other universities did not. The University staff were always happy to help in any way they could.
Each year of my course I was given practical placements at a range of different schools which allowed me to see the variety of ways in which education can be delivered. Getting to travel to East Timor for three weeks to teach English as an Additional Language was a highlight and something I will never forget.
These workplace experiences allowed me to put into practice what I was learning in my degree and allowed me to make contacts with professionals in the education industry.
Teaching is a tough industry to get into these days and Victoria University played a major part in helping me find success in the career that I wanted."
