Lea's leap back into study
The teachers were outstanding, always giving us real-life scenarios and setting expectations of the workplace. They have first-hand experience in the industry and have passed their knowledge along.

After being a stay-at-home parent for over a decade, Lea wanted to pursue an industry with high growth and strong demand. She decided to study the Certificate III in Individual Support CHC33021 (previously the Certificate III in Individual Support CHC33015) under the Free TAFE initiative at VU.
“At first, I was hesitant about going back to study as it had been a long time since I graduated. However, when I met my classmates and teacher on the first day, I felt at ease. Our class was an example of diversity with students from different age groups, cultural background and experiences.
The teachers were outstanding, always giving us real-life scenarios and setting expectations of the workplace. They have first-hand experience in the industry and have passed their knowledge along. The campus facilities were excellent, with real-life simulation rooms, so we had a feel of the real thing before placement.
During placement, I made industry connections and gained employment at the same facility upon completion of my course. I’m now thinking of doing further study and taking up the Diploma in Nursing. Overall, I had a great experience at VU
