This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to review the developmental status of a child or a young person.
Work at this level may require guidance and supervision from appropriately qualified personnel, especially where provision of direct client services is involved.
This unit applies to people working in a range of community service contexts including juvenile justice, alcohol and other drugs services, mental health, and child protection.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each units learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.
Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:
referral and reporting in line with organisational policies and procedures
provision of services
referring or seeking assistance from an appropriate person or authority in relation to variations from functioning
complying with mandatory reporting requirements.
The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
