Overview

This unit examines the comprehensive framework of project procurement management, from strategic planning through to controlling and close out. Students will analyse procurement processes, evaluate contract strategies, and assess tender management approaches within project environments. The unit provides critical insight into key contractual elements, contemporary contract delivery models, and the strategic activities within each phase of the procurement lifecycle. Students will also develop expertise in formulating procurement strategies and evaluating their effectiveness. Case studies and industry examples will be utilised to demonstrate practical applications and enhance understanding of procurement management principles.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Analyse and evaluate project procurement processes and critically review the significance of contractual terms in project contexts;
  2. Assess procurement requirements and formulate appropriate sourcing strategies for project delivery;
  3. Design and evaluate project procurement management plans for complex project implementations; and
  4. Formulate tender evaluation methodologies and analyse supplier selection frameworks.
