This unit is the first of two capstone units. This unit enables students to integrate their research and clinical knowledge and skills through the development of a project whilst engaged in a 25-day clinical practicum. The professional practicum is assessed at 'towards entry level’ on COMPASS competency assessment tool and students are expected to be close to readiness to enter the profession across all speech pathology areas of practice. This placement may take place in a variety of settings completed under the supervision of speech pathology clinical educators. Placements will involve working in services predominantly focused on providing services to child or adult individuals and their families and will typically involve working alongside professionals from other services, such as allied health, welfare and/or education. Students will join a community of practice with their peers who have related research projects, to develop their collaborative learning practices.
