Clinical Practice 1 aims to build on and apply clinical skills in a graduated introduction to clinical practice. This involves a case-based and practical simulation approach to learning that encourages person centred assessment and management. Students will continue to learn how to formulate inclusive assessments and management plans for clients across the lifespan and diverse populations, including people from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Students will also learn how to collaborate with other professionals and work within an interprofessional team. This unit also accentuates the importance of safe manual handling, infection control practice, safe execution of assessment and treatments and consolidates students’ basic clinical physiotherapy skills in preparation for their upcoming clinical placements.

Within this unit, there will be two delivery patterns which will see students completing the first two assessments in a different order. Students are supported in the workshops and simulations to complete the assessments in a timely manner.
