In this unit, students will learn to evaluate various security architectures suitable for protecting both on-premises and cloud-based networks. Additionally, students will apply cryptography and hashing techniques to secure data in transit and at rest. The unit covers implementing and configuring critical network security infrastructure, which may include firewalls, incident detection and prevention systems, network monitoring and auditing software, VPNs, proxy services, web application firewalls, and identity management systems. There is also a focus on developing procedures that may reduce the risks associated with working remotely, as well as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) or other modern challenges experienced in network security.
