Overview

This unit introduces students to key critical thinking skills required to undertake academic research in the Creative Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Students will explore the concepts of knowledge, evidence and research. creating and critiquing knowledge artefacts using text, video and social media, debate and discussion. In doing so they will begin to build the skills they need to conduct robust inquiry leading to the creation of new knowledge in their chosen fields and disciplines.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Apply critical thinking skills to the investigation and evaluation of existing texts in various formats;
  2. Assess and synthesise evidence in the creation of knowledge;
  3. Create and critique their own and others works.
