Overview

Explore the economies of markets and the behaviour of consumers and producers, with Market Analysis and Competition.

This unit will consolidate key concepts, theories and methods of modern economic analysis and apply them to everyday economic issues and problems.

You will engage in a range of learning activities involving:

  • practical problem-solving sessions
  • case study analysis
  • online learning activities
  • peer discussion and review
  • self reflection.

Develop the skills necessary to help consumers understand how various market structures cause changes to economic welfare.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Critically reflect on consumer behaviour, choices and decisions with reference to a broad range of concepts, theories and methods of modern economic analysis;
  2. Apply microeconomic theories to evaluate managerial and policy making issues;
  3. Critically assess and evaluate scenarios so as to identify and solve economic problems with intellectual independence; and,
  4. Investigate, evaluate, and clearly and coherently articulate, economic knowledge both individually and collaboratively in the form of a professional market/industry report.
