Motor learning provides an understanding of how we acquire, develop, improve and enhance skills for movement performance. This unit aims to support students in developing an integrated understanding of the process of motor learning and motor skill performance and an appreciation of the theoretical, practical, and research features of motor learning. Students will explore the learning and performance of different motor skills, changes in motor performance that occur in skill acquisition, theoretical perspectives and principles of motor learning, factors influencing motor learning, assessment of motor performance, and the application of theoretical perspectives and principles of motor learning to the planning and design of appropriate approaches to motor learning and motor skill performance.
