Research Methods

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. Critically review psychological research, develop research questions and propose an appropriate research methodology to address a research question;
2. Interrogate interview dynamics and appraise the relationally co-constituted nature of research interview data;
3. Review and critique the values, principles and assumptions that underpin psychological research designs and methods;
4. Exhibit skills in data coding strategies and interpretive analytic procedures to infer meaning from qualitative data; and
5. Interrogate the role of researcher subjectivity in knowledge production, and engage in self-reflection to enhance both reflexive research endeavour and reflective professional practice.
