Overview

This unit of study will examine the theory and intervention practices for working with people in the context of systems and the ecological framework. Consideration will be given to counselling approaches to work with individuals in the context of families, groups and organisations. Inter-professional relations when working as a counsellor will also be addressed.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Investigate the application of theories and interventions in the context of a systems-based framework relevant to counselling practice;
  2. Formulate a counselling-based assessment and intervention plan using the ecological framework; and
  3. Critically reflect on the professional roles and responsibilities of counsellors when collaborating in inter-professional contexts.
