VU Vollies volunteering program
The Vollies program provides students with volunteering opportunities on campus and in the local community throughout the year.
Join our Vollies program to:
- make new friends
- develop both personally and professionally
- broaden your network
- learn new skills
- have a positive impact on VU and the broader community
- receive recognition of your participation on your VU Extra Transcript.
How to become a Vollie
- Step 1: Register for a Timecounts volunteer account.
- Step 2: Complete the VU Vollies registration form on Timecounts.
- Step 3: Book and attend a mandatory training session.
- Step 4: Provide your Working with Children Check (WWCC) details; the check is free for volunteers:
Benefits
Through training and volunteering opportunities, you will:
- develop useful professional and interpersonal skills, such as problem solving, decision making and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively
- expand your network by meeting students and staff from different campuses and organisations
- have the opportunity to receive rewards and recognition for your work
- use your Vollies hours to earn Leadership Points for the LEAD program
- be able to include the Vollies program on your VU Extra transcript once you volunteer for more than 30 hours
- volunteer at V4U Day, VU's award-winning community volunteering day.
Activities
Vollies help Student Life and other departments deliver amazing events throughout the year, including O-Fest (orientation), Student Leadership Conference, and V4U Day.
Vollies can assist with a range of tasks, including:
- welcoming event attendees
- promoting university activities
- setting up and delivering events
- leading campus tours
- answering general queries
- serving food
- general event day duties.
Vollies also assist in the delivery of various events in the local community.
